Stem and Stem was founded in 2023 by business and life partners Ed & Dee. With a shared love of good food, artwork, cosy wine bars and nature we took it upon ourselves to create an environment which combines our passions and brings them to life under one roof.  

Dee Reid - Florist at Stem & Stem

Dee Reid is the creative force behind Stem and Stem. Co-Founder and Florist with a diverse professional background spanning across both the fashion and floral industry.

After 15 years navigating the buying departments of iconic British fashion brands, including Topshop and Burberry, Dee seamlessly transitioned into the floral industry. Over the past decade, she transformed her floristry hobby into a profession, training at renowned establishments like McQueens and freelancing for East London favourites Edie Rose and Grace & Thorn. In 2020, her time training at the Flower Appreciation Society ignited a passion for British florals, leading her to cultivate her favourite flowers in her own allotment. Dee’s designs are centred around her love of nature, taking an “As It Grows” naturalistic approach. Dee is passionate about produce, sourcing British Blooms year round, only leaning on European suppliers out of season. Her mission is to create a 360 experience, uniting exceptional food and wine with the beauty of flowers to spark joy on special occasions.

Ed Boarland - Chef of Stem & Stem

Ed’s culinary journey began at 15 during high school work experience in his local pub. Recognising his passion for the kitchen, he sought experience under esteemed chefs, starting as a Commis Chef at The Waterside Inn in 2007 for a classic food training from the Roux Family.

In 2010 Ed moved onto Gordon Ramsay’s Restaurant Gordon Ramsay on Royal Hospital Road, starting a role as Demi Chef under the supervision of Clare Smyth, progressing to Chef de Partie before moving to Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant in France – Gordon Ramsay at The Trianon Palace in Versailles – in 2012 as Sous Chef working under Simone Zanoni, here Ed progressed to Head Chef before leaving in 2016.

In 2016, armed with a decade of Michelin-starred training, Ed assumed the role of Head Chef at Cabotte in London’s financial hub, swiftly captivating city workers and food enthusiasts alike. In October 2023, Ed and Dee Reid combined their talents to create Stem & Stem near St Paul’s in the City of London, seamlessly blending a restaurant and florist. The dynamic menu at Stem & Stem changes frequently, with Ed drawing inspiration from everyday life, bringing fresh additions to the menu every few weeks.
